MyoFascial Release

Fascia is a continuous three-dimensional web made of mostly collagen fibers that surrounds every muscle, bone, tendon, ligament, organ, nerve, and blood vessel throughout the entire body. Fascia not only provides structure and support, it also creates a smooth surface for muscles, joints and organs to glide over as the body moves. Fascia can become restricted due to trauma or inflammation, causing the collagen fibers to become more dense. This densification not only causes pain/discomfort locally, but it also creates referred pain throughout the body.

Myofascial Release is a hands on, whole body technique that applies pressure into an area of fascial restriction to allow the fascia to release, thereby relieving pain and restoring range of motion.

Benefits of Myofascial Release include:

  • Reduction of inflammation

  • Reduction of muscle and nerve pain

  • Decrease in fascial tension

  • Increase in flexibility and range of motion

  • Overall improvement in performance
